For shits and giggles I decided to see what price I could get on a 2018 Accord Sport 2.0L with a 6 speed...they MSRP at roughly $31,xxx. I checked my local Honda dealer that I actually like and well...

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Ignore that finance monthly, it’s set with some bullshit score of like 600 and zero down, etc. I bite on it, read over the fine print, and well....I might have to pull the trigger on this sometime this Fall.

These look great. I saw a black one on my way home a few weeks ago and thought it was a CLS from far away. If I wanted to be any kind of practical I would consider one. It would probably lose out to a VW alltrack because of dat green.

However, since we’re living in reality I’m sticking to my 997 guns for now.

It looks best in blue, end of discussion. Honda makes some nice blues nowadays. I also like the one on the HR-V EX-L, am so mad that you can't get that color on the EX which is the highest trim that the manual is still available on.

They are so good looking and they must drive so well. They are so big, though, I would be happy with a Civic Turbo

I like the car, some rear angles  almost seem like a French design, kind of a toned down Citroen.  Not in love with modern Honda directional wheels, however.

Accords are looking really nice.

The only problem(“problem”) for me is  with how big everything’s getting the Accord has beyond necessary  rear seat space while smaller cars like the Civic and Focus have just as much space as the Camrys and Accords my generation grew up in in the early 2000s and they come in fun trims like the Si/R and ST/RS.

I don’t mean to sound anti-sedanist, but it’s a nice looking car...for a  sedan. Right there with the CC or CLS, but not quite an A7. The only downsides are the wheels (come on, Honda!) and the fact that they’re already getting so common, they’re losing the uniqueness that the other have.

If I had to guess, this might be the last time Honda offers it, so grab one if you want it. The other mainstream attractive and capable sedan (Fusion) is a thing of the past. Camry might try to hold on a while longer.

I’ve been seriously researching the Accord as well. I want the same Accord Sport 2.0, but with the Auto. Alas, I don’t really want the 19" wheels though. I wish I could get the car with the wheels on the other trims.

But, I haven’t been in the new Accord yet.  It looks really cramped.  Could that center console be any wider?  That’s one of my biggest issues with cars nowadays.  It seems like they keep getting bigger but they’re giving you less space.  My knees/legs constantly bang against the center console and door armrests. The only vehicle I’ve been in recently that this hasn’t been an issue in is the Mini Cooper.

Just waiting until I get my  pay stub tomorrow. If my credit union denies me a loan for it (which seems unlikely since I’ll have a down payment of $1500 or so) I’ll just sell them the TSX and drive my Prelude for a couple months until I have enough for a down payment.

New Accord is pretty big and wide, especially for the driver. If you are going for an Auto and don’t want the wheels why not just the Ex-T and Ex_L trims? Also, I Don’t know if you’ve checked out the new Mazda 6 with the Turbo, I highly recommended it. Did a review of both sometime back:

It's not cramped at all. It's actually very spacious inside. Perhaps headroom is a little lower with the sunroof, but otherwise there is ample room. I'm 6'0" and had tons of room, and sitting behind myself I had an absurd amount of room. Had to slide almost onto my back before I could get my knees to touch. The console width looks wider than it actually is, but it is not confining at all.

I test-drove an ‘18 2.0T Sport with 6-spd a few weeks ago. It was...okay. I liked the ride, transmission was okay, brakes were weird. Nothing...nothing...GRABGRABGRABYERGONNADIE. Nannies were nannies and distracting. The nannies can be turned off, certainly...but I was saddened by my overall impression of the car. I’m guessing everything else was just this particular car. I really wanted to try a 1.5 Sport, but they didn’t have one at the time. The price tag on that car was unreal, too...they knew we’d say no when we saw the sticker. I wanna say it was north of $33k.

I then drove an EX and hated it. The fabric felt rough and cheap. The cabin felt claustrophobic. The ride was fine, but I still liked the feel of my ‘15 EX better.

It was then that we decided to buy out our lease. I really wanted a 6-spd Sport, but it just wasn’t in the cards.

FWIW, we also test drove a Legacy that day and really liked it because...oddly enough...it reminded us more of our existing ‘15 Accord EX.

Me too. I’ve got a MaxCare warranty on it up to 125,000 miles (although it’s more likely I’ll hit the 4-year limit first) so any issues should be covered.

See, this boils down to Honda not making the car I want. I want the trim of an EX but the engine and transmission of the Accord Sport 2.0. Only the 2.0 comes with an automatic. Everything else comes with a CVT. Now, admittedly, Honda’s CVT is very good. But I still don’t care for driving it. It’s rather maddening. I want a car with actual gears. Since I can’t buy the manual (because wife can’t drive it) I am stuck with automatics.

As for the Mazda, I haven’t driven one of the 6's with the turbo yet. But the lack of Android Auto is annoying. Yes, I could install it through hacks that I’ve read about, but I shouldn’t have to. It should come baked in.

And, I want/need a damn hatchback . What I want, really, is a Fit with a geared automatic with the 1.5T from the Civic. Not something that Honda’s going to make unfortunately.

Well, that’s good to know that it’s wider than it looks.  I’ve loved Accords forever, and would like to get back in to one.  I’m just over my ‘15 Civic and am looking for something different.

It’s ugly in all colors and those wheels are an abomination. It’s a bland design (as most sedans are) with a front end that looks unfinished.

Last year I traded in a previous-gen Accord Sport with CVT I was leasing for my MK6 GTI. While I liked the Accord, I didn’t love it. It was too big for Southern California parking spaces (to me), and the CVT pissed me off.

If you’re in the market for a Honda, I’d suggest staying away from the CVT, it takes something away from the driving experience.

They’re expensive, but if you have an OEM set that’s new, you can sell the whole set for good money and buy something you like better.

I mean, I don’t love those wheels either, don’t get me wrong. I’ve just had good luck in the past selling wheels I didn’t like and buying different ones, without much out-of-pocket expense.

Also, I found a loophole in the CarMax  finance offer. If I change my down payment amount they have to make me another one. So there is hope.
